What is my platform?

My platform is built on three key priorities that will improve our daily lives and secure a better future for Kernersville.

Investing in Infrastructure
01

Investing in Infrastructure

Kernersville is growing, and our infrastructure needs to keep pace. As more developments are approved in Kernersville, we see increased traffic congestion on major corridors like Union Cross Road and Piney Grove Road. The Kernersville town government has not published a Thoroughfare and Street Plan Annual Report since 2021.

As your alderman, I am making it a priority to work with our state legislators and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to ensure our roads are planned with future growth in mind and receive the funding they need. This isn't just about building new roads; it's about smart, forward-thinking solutions that ease congestion and keep our community moving safely and efficiently.

Work with state legislators and NCDOT
Plan roads with future growth in mind
Secure proper funding for infrastructure
Smart, forward-thinking solutions
Ease congestion and improve safety
Expanding Recreation and Community Life
02

Expanding Recreation and Community Life

Kernersville should be a place where we can live and play without having to drive to Greensboro or Winston-Salem. As a parent of two young boys in Kernersville, I understand the need for more local recreation and entertainment options for our Kernersville families.

By expanding opportunities for our citizens to enjoy our town, we can keep our dollars right here in Kernersville. This means supporting local businesses, investing in our parks, and creating vibrant community spaces that offer something for everyone. Let's make Kernersville a destination for fun, not just a place we leave to find it.

More local recreation options
Support local businesses
Invest in parks and green spaces
Create vibrant community spaces
Keep dollars in Kernersville
Updating Our Unified Development Ordinance (UDO)
03

Updating Our Unified Development Ordinance (UDO)

Kernersville's UDO is meant to guide development and preserve our town's unique character. However, our current Kernersville regulations are outdated. Rezoning notices are only sent to Kernersville residents within 200 feet of a proposed site, which fails to inform many who will be impacted by increased traffic on our major Kernersville roads.

The Kernersville UDO has tighter restrictions on small businesses like escape rooms and axe-throwing bars than it does on internet/electronic gaming parlors. As your Kernersville alderman, I am pushing for a comprehensive review and update of the UDO to ensure it reflects our Kernersville community's values, promotes responsible growth, and gives Kernersville residents a stronger voice in how our town develops.

Comprehensive UDO review and update
Better rezoning notification system
Reflect community values
Promote responsible growth
Give residents stronger voice in development

These priorities represent my commitment to building a better Kernersville for all residents.
